The decision making model to use is from Thinker’s Guide to Analytic Thinking (June, 2007).

STEP 3:
Identify your assumptions

are the things that you assume because it is a popular way of looking at
things. Assumptions may or may not be right.
The important thing is to identify them so you will realize the impact
they could have on your decision. Ex: I
assume I will like Starbucks better than Tim Horton’s because Starbucks has
fancier advertising.)
STEP 4: Look at
your personal point of view or bias.

This
is looking at your own experiences or biases.
Ex: I ate at ABC and sat by a man
that was loud and obnoxious. I really
did not like the place. Again, they may
be right or wrong but it is important to realize the role your bias plays in making
a decision.
STEP 7: Conclusion

Make
your conclusion.

In
making a conclusion, go back to the purpose.

The
conclusion will address the purpose based on the process.
·
Conclude by describing
your impression of using the analytic decision making model. When would you use it again? What value do you see in this model? Was it
valuable to use a group in using the decision model?
