An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to books, articles, and documents. Each citation is followed by a brief( usually about 150 words) descriptive and evaluative paragraph, the annotation. The purpose of the annotation is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited.

Jensen’s introduction to the middle section of the book, “The Great Uprising 1900- 1920”, is clearly written schematic overview of the the union involved in the garment workers’ strikes in Rochester, Chicago, Cleveland and New York. Jewish women stricter are described in essays on each strike. They include Rochester striker Ida Brayman( who was shot to death during the strike), Libbie Alpert, and Fannie Gordon; Hannah Shapiro and Bessie Abramovitz in Chicago; national union organizer Pauline Newman in the Cleveland strike; and numerous women in New York. Ann Schofield’s essay” The Uprising of the 20,000: The Making of a LaborLegend” is a good review of the the varying interpretations of the events by feminist and other historians.
