Overview
Families often reproduce themselves and many parents are unaware of the powerful influence
they have on their children. Legacy is not a word they often think about. In fact, many parents
live in self-doubt when it comes to having positive influence. Add the pressure of blended
families, strong-willed kids, learning disabilities, and the like, and pressure mounts. Especially
when trying to discipline well, engage a multigenerational approach to parenting, develop a
healthy spirituality in their children, and leave a legacy for generations to come.
Instructions
Utilizing information presented in this course, as well as theoretical and practical elements from
academic and Christian sources, you will compile an original research paper on a parenting topic
you most want to learn about.
The Research Paper: Final Assignment should cover three primary sections:
1. A description of the topic / problem (discipline, ADHD, co-parenting, etc.)
2. The effects on the child / parent and family. What are outcomes? Why do parents
struggle with this topic?
3. What are practical strategies for helping parents with the problem?
Remember, this is a research paper, not a personal opinion paper. Though you may have
experience with the topic, the purpose of the Research Paper: Final Assignment is to cite what
the research shows to be true about the topic.
Research Paper: Final Assignment requirements include:
● 2000–2500 words of body text
● Page count does not include title page or reference section
● Current APA format (including Title Page, Reference Page, in-text citations, and
quotations)
● Minimum of 8 scholarly sources in addition to the textbook and/or Bible
● Scholarly articles published within the last 5 years
● One-inch margins, left justified, proper headings, no additional space between
