The assignment is to present both sides of a controversial issue (police brutality is what I chose) and then come up with some sort of conclusion that is backed by one or more ethical theories. You must use at least 4 sources and avoid unsubstantiated websites.
The paper should include the following sections:
Introduction- Give a 1/3 to 1/2 page discussion of your topic. At this point resist the temptation to choose a side on the issue. Make sure you are introducing any specialized vocabulary that is relevant to the topic.
View 1(the view you agree with)- Introduce the main arguments which support the side you will eventually defend. Try not to show your hand here, try to just describe some arguments that support your view.
View 2(the view you disagree with)- Introduce the main arguments which go against your position. Again, do not evaluate them here, just try to describe what the other side looks like.
Evaluation- Why is view 1 better than view 2? This is the section where you start to show your opinion. Develop arguments which attempt to show that the points in the first view defeat the points from the second view.
(My view is that police brutality is a problem)
