Recognizing and Owning our own Unconscious Biases

The Assignment
For this assignment, you will go to Harvard’s Project Implicit Website (Links to an external site.). The video I made you will walk you through this.
You will take a total of 3 tests:
1. Race Test: Do you have any bias against black people, white people or do you have no preference?
2. Skin Tone Test: Do you prefer people with lighter or darker skin tones, or will your results show no preference??
3. Your Choice: You may choose any of the Remaining 12 Tests for your final test. Remember that they are measuring bias. For example, the sexuality test is measuring whether you have any bias against homosexual people, NOT whether you prefer to date men or women yourself.
Complete the Following Steps for EACH Test.
Step 1: Reflect on your Possible Biases before you take each test.
BEFORE you take each test, reflect on what you think the outcome will be. Write a paragraph with your predictions for each test and talk abouw why you made that guess,
Step 2: Take the Test and Record your Results
Take each test and print out your results or take a screenshot. (you will submit these with your assignment).
Step 3: Write a Paper (Double spaced, typed, etc)
All of us have Implicit Biases, but knowing this doesn’t make it easy to accept. You may be tempted to argue that the test is incorrect. Assume for the sake of discovery that your results are is correct and that you have something to gain from taking ownership of them. Write from a place of curiosity and self-discovery.
This paper will only be seen by me (unless you choose to share) so take some time to explore freely.
Answer these Questions
