Motivation can have both positive and negative effects on academic achievement. A phenomenon that is often observed in middle and high school classrooms is a declining interest among adolescents in school, decreased achievement motivation, and changes in self-esteem. Referencing the information you learned in Chapter 10 (attached), create a program to reverse the trend seen in adolescence regarding school interest, achievement motivation, and declining grades. Your response should address the following questions:
Who will the program target? Why have you selected this population of students? Use information from the chapter to support your decision.
What types of strategies will you use to increase interest in school? What about achievement motivation? Grades?
Buy-in from parents would most likely be key to the success of your program. How will you get parents involved?
How will you measure student outcomes in your program?
