Write a thesis-driven essay (Response #1) of at least 750-1250 words (double spaced). You may write about a character, a theme, a setting, a symbol, or the topic of your choice. Your thesis must be the last sentence of your introduction. Support your argument with evidence from the text. You may also include details about the author’s life and/or writing.

What I am looking for:
An introduction that sets up your argument. Do not summarize the entire story.
A clear thesis statement.
At least three pieces of evidence from the text with detailed explanations.
The use of direct quotes –properly copied, punctuated, and documented.
In-text citations and a works cited list.
Proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
