Did your implicit and explicit stereotypes/prejudices match? • If not, how did it make you feel? Surprised, guilty, defensive, skeptical, depressed? Why?

1. Go to the Implicit Association Test website: https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/takeatest.html
2. Select “take a test” (from options along the top of the screen) and agree to continue by selecting “I wish to proceed”.
3. Take one of your choosing and at least 2 of the following 6 options: race, gender-career, age, sexuality, religion, or disability. (3 in total)
4. Copy and paste the results of each into a word document and answer the following questions in narrative form about the results.

Some people’s implicit and explicit beliefs coincide with each other while others do not. When they do not match, it is typically the case that people’s implicit beliefs indicate more stereotype endorsement or more bias than their explicit beliefs indicate. This means that often deep down people have more stereotypes and prejudice than they consciously believe they do. With that in mind, please reflect on and respond to the following questions.

• Did your implicit and explicit stereotypes/prejudices match?
• If not, how did it make you feel? Surprised, guilty, defensive, skeptical, depressed? Why? What consequences do you think the mismatch might have?
• What do you think the sources of implicit biases are for you and how can they be altered?
