For this assignment, take one of your favorite retail items that you may have purchased, and look at the label on the back of the item, or within the product itself. Look at the ‘country of origin’, and attempt to trace the supply chain of that item. You may look up the company’s website for more information, use the country of origin to find out how the product may have been manufactured in that country, and design a full supply chain assignment through a power-point presentation. The presentation should show the following:
Cover page with proper title
Product image with country of origin
Trace the country of origin and give a brief profile of same
Show the product development, including how the production may have been done on the product
Based on the price you paid, what can you understand about the cost of production on the product, and how it may have been priced for sale
The label also carries care instructions on it, or there is a separate attachment for it. What can you learn from that label about construction of the item, and what kind of raw material knowledge can you gain from it?
Did you buy the product in a retail store, or through a website or another alternate means? Trace the logistics of that product till it reached you.
The presentation should be about 10 slides, and should show the understanding of supply chain and operations principles.
Ensure that the presentation is clean, and tells a story.
Have a conclusion slide at the end.
