The novel Sula represents a form of good vs evil, right versus wrong may be traced all the way back to Sula and Nel’s childhoods through experiences they’ve gone through together.

Information that is useful: (Feel free to add into essay)
You would think that the novel Sula would have its main protagonist as its main character but in realit it isn’t Sula, its Nel that is the protagonist. Sula’s actions within the novel give her a form of toxic nature towards her character and with Nel: it’s more about growth, herself, and not becoming the woman her mother Helene Wright. Within the novel Nel says, ““I’m me. I’m not their daughter. I’m not Nel. I’m me. Me.” Each time she said the word me there was a gathering in her like power, like joy, like fear.”, and ““Me,” she murmured. And then, sinking deeper into the quilts, “I want . . . I want to be . . . wonderful. Oh, Jesus, make me wonderful.”’. Which shows how Nel cared about following the social standards while Sula wronged Nel by sleeping with her husband. Nel ended off caring for her children with love and effection not only after being wronged by her mother who treated her badly, but also by her Ex husband and her best friend she grew up with.
