Compare a 19th century (prior to 1900) landscape photographer to contemporary landscape photographer. You must use photographers who are well-known and have been featured in museums. There are lists below that can help you with your choices. However, there are additional possibilities.
You will need to include 1 photo from each photographer to show as examples in your writing. Your images can be downloaded from the internet. Be sure to cite the photos with MLA format for photographer, title, process, year created, and the source where you found the image.
your journal needs to be in complete sentences and at least 300 words long.
When writing, address the following questions:
What similarities do you see in the way that these two photographers approach their landscape photographs?
What differences do you see?
What is the purpose, message, intent, or reason behind each images?
How do you think the public interprets each location during the time period created based on the photograph?
Submission types include:
Type directly into Canvas and submit your images to this page.
Submit your journal as a .pdf, .doc, or .docx document to this page in Canvas with your 2 images embedded in the document or submission. The images need to be visible in your document or submission.

Expectations & Requirements
My expectations for these posts, as for all discussions are that you will post a thoughtful response to the prompt given, taking time to answer all parts, if there are more than one. Your responses to peers should extend our conversation further, and should conform to all of our Netiquette rules as laid out in our syllabus. You will be graded on your depth of thought in both your initial post and responses. Other expectations and requirements include:
Include all information.
Include all required images with correct citing.
As a grader, I will be looking for specific artwork and integration of vocabulary and historical context to make sure that there is plenty of informed content.
Cite your images properly in MLA format.
Remember to proofread and spell check.
