WHAT IS A CASE STUDY IN BUSINESS ETHICS?
A case study in business ethics is an analysis that asks you to investigate a business ethics issue or problem. It should include background information on the specific topic, an analysis of the ethical issue, and sometimes offer effective strategies/ recommendations for solutions.
HOW TO CREATE A CASE STUDY?
In your third and last major writing assignment, you need to create a Case Study using the materials and information provided in the options below– the selection of texts can be used as your reference material OR you can use those materials AND supplement with additional materials that are more relevant to your case.
The case that you choose to examine—that may involve one company, an organization, any other business conducting entity or also just tackle a broader ethical issue—must involve some kind of “ethical/unethical situation” (it could either be an example of a negative or positive activity/decision, etc.) and must contain materials that have not been published as an actual case study.
A Case Study of this kind would have to contain these elements:
An Abstract (120-150 words)
Include background information on the specific topic
Investigate a business ethics problem
Propose solutions (course of action) using supporting evidence
FORMAT:
The style, tone, format, and writing in your case study should resemble the style and purpose of the case studies we researched through the UW library catalog.
