Term Paper Topic
Imagine that you have been hired as an employee
with the title of Managing Consultant in the national consulting firm of Health
Advisors Group, and you are earning much more money than you ever thought
possible in a salaried position. A Senior Partner in the firm, Sharon
Fredrickson, has talked with you in the past about the company perhaps getting
more involved in the area of compliance for healthcare organizations
(HCOs). You have agreed with the Senior Partner that you would take the
HSL 611 course at the firm’s expense, and you agreed to submit a report on
whether Health Advisors Group should develop major lines of consulting related
to compliance issues in healthcare. After taking the course, you have
become convinced that it would be prudent for the firm to become a major
consultancy source in the field of healthcare compliance.
Paper Content
Your term paper will take the form of an advisory report to Ms.
Fredrickson and you will list, in order of priority, the top five healthcare
consulting opportunities that exist at the present time and that will probably
develop under the Affordable Care Act and possibly other future federal
statutes and regulations.
Base this report from what you have learned in the HSL 611 course
and in your further research. You will cite federal and/or state statutes
as part of this report, scholarly journal articles, and credible news
sources. You also will cite actual reported situations where hospitals or
other healthcare organizations have run afoul of the law by not following the
legal requirements and/or prudent compliance procedures. You also will
describe why even large healthcare organizations with internal compliance staff
support would want to engage your firm for assistance in various compliance
areas.
Finally, you will respond to the Senior Partner’s inquiry as to
whether or not you would be interested in serving as the first Associate Senior
Partner for Compliance in the firm, and why.
