Anti-Semitism in America Today

Anti-Semitism has been an ongoing world problem for centuries. This is the persecution of people of the Jewish faith. The Jewish State of Israel was created by the United Nations Plan for the partition of British occupied Palestine in 1948. This move was to allow Jews who were displaced after the Holocaust to return to their original homeland. In so doing, numerous Palestinians were removed from their homeland. This has created complex and serious problems in the region on both sides. One solution has been the idea of the creation of two states in the region. Currently, the right-winged control of Israeli politics refuses to create a two-state solution for Palestinians. In response to their displacement, Hamas and other radical Muslim groups have called for the total eradication of Israel and of Jews around the world. After the horrifying October 7th attack of over 1,000 Israeli civilians and over 100 hostages taken by Hamas, Israel in return has bombed and attacked the Gaza Strip and Palestinian civilians continuously saying Hamas needs to be eradicated. Now Palestinians in the thousands are dead and injured, and almost 2 million have been displaced, and are starving to death. This has created worldwide outcries for the cessation of brutalities. We are seeing a similar backlash today on our country with Americans taking sides between Israel and Palestine. This means those Americans of Jewish or Muslim descent have been endangered and discriminated against. We have seen a rise of antisemitism much like the rise of anti-Muslim reactions after the 9-11 Attack.

[Please also review the past discussion on Anti-Muslim and Arab incidents for another aspect on the continued backlash of discrimination and tragedy as a result of this global dispute.]
