ANTH 101 FINAL EXAM (Essay Assignment)
Due end of Week Eight (last day of our course, Tuesday,
March 8, 2022 (11 59 PM, US Eastern Time)
For the ANTH 101 Final Exam, you will prepare a 3–4-page
research essay in which you will synthesize, apply, and demonstrate your
knowledge of human evolution.
In your essay, you will answer the BIG question:
“Are humans still evolving?”
In your essay, you will provide support for your view using
our course materials and other additional resources you obtain from UMGC
Library and/or internet search.
In your essay, you need to address the following
questions:
• What is the definition of “evolution”? What are examples for
mechanisms of evolution?
• Are humans still evolving today? Why or why not? Provide specific examples to
support your view.
• How do culture and technology impact the biological evolution of humans
today? Provide specific examples.
• Why is it important to learn about human evolution or evolution in general?
• Remember to cite all your sources (in-text and with a reference list) using
APA Citation Format.

• The title page does not count toward the required 3 page minimum for the
essay.
Recommended Essay Structure
• Your essay will consist of five paragraph essay format – with
Introduction (one paragraph), Body (three paragraphs) and Conclusions (one
paragraph). These five paragraphs of content all together should be two pages.
Margins, Spacing, Font Size, Page Numbers
• 1-inch margins, double spaced.
• Use an accessible font (e.g., Times New Roman 12pt., Arial 11pt., or Georgia
11pt.).
• Include a page number on every page.
Citation Format & Reference List
• Please follow APA Citation Style for in-text citations and for your
list of references.
• Your list of references should be provided (in APA style) at the end of your
document (following the Conclusions section of your essay). The reference list
does not count toward the 2 pages of content for your essay
