Basic career exploration-Organization & Industrial psychology

Assignment 1: Basic Career Exploration
Purpose: to start researching some potential careers in which you might be interested. You may have a firm idea of what you want to do, or you may have no idea what you want to do. You may think you know what you want, but have done very little research.
Please type you answers to the following questions. Make sure your spacing is at least 1.5, but I prefer double-spaced. Upload in the Assignment Box.
1. What career(s) or jobs are you interested in after graduation? (Law) How did you become interested in that field? If you’re not quite sure what you want to do, that is fine, too! At least state what you’re leaning toward. (1 point)
2. Google that career or job category. Find 2 sites that seem interesting. Document each site and state something interesting you learned. (2 points)
3. You learned about the Occupational Information Network (O*NET) in Chapter 3 (p. 61). It is a database compiled by the US Department of Labor.
Explore O*NET. (https://www.onetonline.org/) Become familiar with what’s on that site. Find the box beside Occupation Search and enter an occupation or two of interest (e.g., Social Worker, Counselor, etc.). This should correspond to your answer to Q#1, but if you can’t find that, try a few other related job titles. Write a short paragraph about what you learned in terms of knowledge, skills, and abilities required, job outlook, salary, etc. Please do not simply cut and paste from the site. You do not have to include everything on the site (obviously), but rather integrate the high points. Be sure to include the occupation(s) you searched. (3.5 points)
4. Explore the Occupational Outlook Handbook. https://www.bls.gov/ooh/home.htm?view_full Do the same thing you did with O*NET (3.5 points)
