1. Read the story “Doe Season” by David Michael Kaplan, pp. 395-409 (Portable Literature).

2. Create a Document for Analyzing the Story.
In the document, write a paragraph about each of the following.
You do NOT need to write an introduction or transitions.
This is a preparatory step toward writing your full essay in the next Module (5).

2A. Review Chapter 7: Plot (pp.123-27).
Write a short description of the Situation, Crisis or Conflict, and Climax/Resolution in “Doe Season.”

2B. Review Chapter 8: Character (pp. 156-59).
Write a short description of the main character as Round or Flat, Static or Dynamic, and her Motivation.

2C. Review Chapter 10: Point of View (226-36).
Write a summary of what the textbook says about the Point of View used in “Doe Season” (232-33).

2D. Review Chapter 13: Theme (381-86).
Write a short statement in which you evaluate the possible themes/central ideas which are described in the textbook for “Doe Season” (pp.382-82).

Describe which statement you most closely identify with and why;
OR
Write your own statement of the Theme or Central Idea of “Doe Season.”

3. Submit your Document and keep a copy to use in the next stage of the writing process (Module 5).
