Rural environments can bring different types of challenges for counselors and clients. These challenges can include the feelings of isolation, lack of resources, limited number of relationships, and the possibility of everyone knowing one another. Issues such as these can cause a sense of distress and burnout for the helping professional. If you are counseling in a rural environment and come across some of the informatation mentioned within chapter 8 of the text book, how would you handle distress and burnout within yourself?
