Instructions:
Students are assigned to critically analyze the United Nations Conference on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), and the ADA Amendments Act of 2008. Students are to make an ASL video presentation (YouTube version only).
The first part of the video is to discuss the United Nations Conference on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and then discuss the Americans with Disabilities Act you’re comparing the first one to. Be sure to explain the purpose of each law.
The second part is, discuss how CRPD is similar to ADA and how these laws differ. You may repeat this process of alternating from one subject to the other until you have touched on all of the similarities and differences that you wish to compare and contrast. In addition, strengths and weaknesses need to be examined.
The third part is, make recommendations that are to be included in the CRPD and the ADA. Recommendations should be based on readings and or your understanding of Disabilities. Your positions should be supported.
The fourth part is, to discusses the pros and cons/debate whether United States should ratify the CRPD even though it already has a domestic law providing protection to U.S. citizens with disabilities.
