In a three-page paper, document a cost analysis for your chosen research topic (see topic below). At a minimum, be sure to address the following aspects of cost considerations:
Describe the type of direct or indirect cost(s), tangible or intangible, you expect to incur such as time and resources.
Identify which cost analysis is relevant for your research project and justify your selection.
Outline, in detail, the five steps you will take to conduct the cost analysis.
Provide a comparison example of costs and consequences for your specific topic. Research actual monetary figures that you could use to determine your costs and consequences. Note: You may need to get additional information from stakeholders at your current place of employment regarding costs of equipment, patient care, etc.
Reference the cost analysis process, discuss whether this project is fiscally sound or if changes are needed before implementation. See attached supporting document
Here’s my chosen reserach topic:
A clinical research topic of interest is the effectiveness
of non-pharmacological interventions such as music therapy in preventing and
responding to agitation and aggressive behavior among dementia patients as
compared to pharmacological interventions. Music therapy is often informally
used in residential care facilities to enhance communication, emotional,
cognitive and behavioral skills in elderly patients diagnosed with dementia
both nationally and internationally. In the article I researched, the evidence
used in the clinical practice guideline showed increases in the levels of
well-being when music therapy was used in this population. Also, a study by
Gerdner (2000) found a significant reduction in agitation in people with
dementia who were played an individualized program of music as opposed to
traditional relaxation music. I would include this information to foster
evidenced based practice to support my theory and belief that this type of nonpharmacological
approach is effective.
