There are two articles attached. You will have to do an article critique for any one article and an article praise for the remaining one.
Your task is to discuss concisely (not more than 150 words) an important/serious/interesting problem that arises in one of the articles (whichever you prefer). Every article, even the best ones, have potential confounds, design flaws, statistical oddities, theoretical weaknesses, and other types of shortcomings. For example, you may focus on something that could have been done differently: would a slight modification to the experimental design have provided us with a better understanding of the phenomena under study? Could a confound had been avoided with a different or extra experiment? Should the interpretation of the results have been different? You should find the most interesting of these issues and present them in a professional and respectful way. Remember, it takes a lot of work to publish a paper and we’ll read serious scientists, so whatever mistake or limitation in their paper it is unlikely to be trivial. Even though you must write a critical comment, this should be accurate, well-reasoned, and polite. You should avoid harsh language. You can assume the reader (that’s me) knows the background and thereby you should go directly to the point (remember, you have only a few words).
For the other article, you should identify the most interesting, surprising (in a good way), valuable contribution and provide a concise (not more than 100 words) praise presented in a respectful and professional manner. A glowing comment should be avoided even if you thought the article was excellent. Just point out something valuable about the article and why you think so.
tl;dr: write a 150-word criticism of one article and a 100-word praise of the other article
Please do not exceed the word limit for each part.
