Curiosity Questions
Sometimes you are learning material and something grabs your attention. Not because it will be on the
exam, but because you are interested in learning about it. You might also notice something in your daily
life that you have the urge to learn the chemistry behind. Over the course of the semester I would like
you to take two of these items that interest you and learn a bit more about them.
You will need to cover two items for each question. Your writing will be posted on the discussion board
where classmates and I will be able to read your submission and ask follow up questions.
There are two parts to your paper:
Part 1: What curiosity question arose while learning material in the course? What sparked the curiosity?
Part 2: Using Google Search, try to find the answer for your own question. Keep in mind to use only reliable
online sources (.edu, .org, .net and .gov). Make sure not to copy and paste the answer from the source
but describe it in your own words. Provide the reference for your online source(s).
Each curiosity question is worth 35 points. This includes 25 points for completing the original post and 10
points responding to comments from classmates on your topic.
