New Health Intervention Proposal (60 points)
The submission of your draft due 02/20 by 5:00 pm (15 points). You will receive full
credit if all elements of the assignment have been reasonably drafted. This draft will not be
graded by the instructor beyond ensuring completeness.
You will use the feedback from your peer reviewer to improve and strengthen your
proposal (10 points) for the final, graded assignment due 10/23 by 5:00 pm.
Imagine you are a Project Manager for a public health organization. Your task is to
develop a new intervention and complete a grant proposal to financially
support/fund your new intervention.
1. Conduct additional literature review of your emerging area of concern within your
chosen topic area (the same topic as your Hypothetical Logic Model assignment.
Identify 3 – 5 credible, relevant resources to inform your proposal and include among
your reference list.
2. Your proposal should include:
a) Target population descriiption (as specific as possible) (3 points);
b) Describe the health problem your intervention will improve or change (3 points);
c) A statement of need, and/or ‘problem statement’, detailing the unmet need or
increased risk of the target population related to the health problem your
intervention aims to address (3 points);
d) Describe the intervention. What will be done? Who will do it? When will it happen?
Etc. (Think about this section as a summary of your Hypothetical Logic Model). (3
points);
e) Explain why the target population would benefit from this intervention. Describe
what ‘success’ would look like. (3 points);
f) Briefly describe how success will be measured. What indicators and measures will
you use? Which evaluation approaches would you plan to incorporate (i.e. pre- and
post-surveys, focus groups, etc.); What results do you expect? (3 points);
g) Describe which public health tools and theories are being applied and why they
were chosen for this particular intervention (3 points); and
h) Identify the potential community stakeholders of this intervention. Who might be
interested in and invested in the intervention you’re proposing and why? (3 points).
These proposal components should fill 6-8 pages (1 point).
In addition (making the assignment 9-12 pages total), include:
 a cover page with your intervention name, your name, and the date (2 points),
 1 page budget (see attached; use the Inputs on your Logic Model) (3 points), and
 a reference list (APA formatting for citations and references) (2 points)
Your proposal should be professional and quality in nature, logical and easy to follow, and
demonstrate thoughtful effort (3 points).
