Discuss whether and how new evidence or alternative explanations have shaped this belief over time.

In Chapter 6, the authors discuss how to evaluate one’s beliefs. “The answer, of course, is that we can do our best to base our decisions on good data” (p. 179). For this activity, create a table with two columns. Label the first column “beliefs” and the second columns “data.” In the first column, articulate at least four of your specific beliefs related to the topic of religion. In the second column, list the data on which you have evaluated each belief and the source of those data. When you have completed the activity, consider whether, overall, your beliefs regarding religion are supported by good data from reliable sources.
Note: For the purposes of this activity, use sources outside of the Bible (or other religious text) as data sources. If you view the Bible as a reliable source, you may choose to state that as a belief (e.g., “The Bible is the Word of God”) and then provide additional data to support that belief.

In an original post of no less than 250 words, address the following:
First, discuss the “Belief Evaluation Activity” that you completed earlier this week.
Was it difficult to complete the activity?
Why or why not? What did you learn through the process?
Next, I would like you to share one of the beliefs you listed along with the associated data (i.e., the evidence you base this belief on).
Discuss whether and how new evidence or alternative explanations have shaped this belief over time.
