This paper is a personal statement for grad school admission. Please write: ( I want to enter the social work field because Ultimately I’d like to become a therapist.The social issue That I’d like to focus on is school bullying. This issue confirmed my interest in the social work profession because I was bullied as a child in school and not much was really done about it by the school staff. I always had to tell my guardian and they’d have to get involved. Bullying caused me to feel sad and have anxiety. My struggle with math in school didn’t make it any easier because my teacher would call all of our grades out in class and I would always have the lowest grade. I don’t understand why she felt the need to do that, did she not know the damage that it caused. I was humilited that entire school year and cringed when I knew my name and grade was about to be called. It bring tears to my eyes thinking about my younger self during that time. As a mom I’ve made it my responsiblity to always communicate with my kids about school as well as communicate with their teachers about their teaching styles.)

Personal statements must be formatted in Microsoft Word. Applicants must submit a statement that uses Times New Roman font size twelve (12), one inch margins, and is double-spaced. In social work education, the American Psychological Association’s Publication Manual (APA Style) is used for formatting and style. Applicants are required to use this guide for all formatting and style including a title page, running head, page numbers, in-text citations and a reference list. The use of thesis statements and introductory and concluding sentences and paragraphs are needed.
Thoroughly discuss a current social issue that is relevant to social work practice and fostered or confirmed your interest in the social work profession. You also may mention additional reasons for deciding to pursue graduate social work study at this time.
Discuss your career interests and/or objectives and how you plan to take advantage of the resources at the University’s Graduate School of Social Service to support you in your goals.
Discuss why the online program is a good fit for you. Please explain how you plan on balancing the demands of our online platform, including the 8 week class structure and field placement(s), with responsibilities you would have outside of school.
