Experimental Design and Market Testing
TERM PROJECT
I want very much for you to learn to bring the material in this course to bear in your own (future) work. The final paper in the course — due on the last day of class – is designed to facilitate this. The paper should be 10-12 double-spaced, typewritten pages. In this project you will design your own experiment. You would:
a) briefly note the rationale for the study and your hypotheses,
b) include a detailed methods section, describing reasons why factors are manipulated or measured, within or between subjects, and treated as fixed or random;
c) include power calculations underlying decisions about how many subjects to run;
d) outline the analyses you plan, including planned contrasts relevant to your hypotheses, statistical tests used, error term selection, and predicted pattern of results.
References should be cited appropriately in footnotes or in a listing at the end of the written paper (endnotes are preferred by this professor). This includes proper citation of valid, reliable websites. Plagiarism will result in action consistent with University policy on academic dishonesty.
Neatness, grammar, spelling, presentation style, and organization will be important factors in grade determination. Additionally, effective prose will be rewarded in its own right; poor communication will hurt your grade.
