Explain how research is the systematic process in which the required data collection and accurate analysis of information are achieved to increase the degree of understanding on one or more issues. The basic steps of this systematic process include (1) each question or query, (2) data collection to answer the questions, and (3) the answer to each question (Saunders et al., 2019).

After the descriiption of the research concept, the outline of the main features follows:

 The research is based exclusively on the systematic study of empirical reality. The research tries to answer a question based on data collected and rejects personal experiences, intuition, and dogmatism.

 It is a method of acquiring knowledge and acceptance as valid and reliable, only what can be verified. Whatever is already known and proven is not the subject of the research unless it presents a new parameter, either in the study, conclusion, or methodology.

 Research to collect the required empirical data uses commonly accepted means of collecting and processing research data.

 Research is based on objectivity. For the research results to be valid, its production process must be free of subjective elements. The researchers should be interested in checking the correctness of their research hypotheses and not in promoting them in a specific direction.

 The findings of a research are not final knowledge. Although the process guarantees the objective, the research is ongoing to approach the “truth”. Therefore, each finding is valid until proven otherwise (Calvert, 2006).

According to Fisher-Mazur (1997), research depending on the orientation, is distinguished into the following types:

Basic research

• Descriiption, prediction, explanation of phenomena.

• It may not be immediately applicable.

Applied research

• Descriiption, prediction, explanation of phenomena

• Suggestions with solutions to immediate, practical problems .

Pseudo-research

• Present findings as if the research has been done.

• Do not collect data

Can you provide an example related to pseudo–research?
