The first comparative analysis should analyze one film from Unit 1 and one film from Unit 2, and should also include a discussion of historical and cultural contexts. In addition to having an introduction and conclusion, the comparative film analysis paper should address the following: 1) the portrayal of Japanese culture, 2) the use of the film’s genre to examine its subject (use the Japanese genres discussed), 3) historical and cultural influences or contexts, 4) how the films highlight Japanese views and ideas about the subject portrayed, and 5) must use cited quotes and evidence from the films.
