You will compose a 3-6 page narrative essay (750 words) in which you will (1) develop a detailed description of your specific group to which you belong, one that is significant to you. Your description may include a significant story that will help your readers to fully experience it (make your reader see, hear). Then (2) consider all the different parts that might have meaning for the group—from the ordinary to the unusual; here you’ll develop your main focus or idea, your thesis. Finally, (3) you will search the library sources to find a source (an article, essay, study, book chapter) that deals with your specific topic and incorporate it into your conversation while using the MLA format for city your sources.
My thesis
I am who I am thanks to my family that always supports me on my goals in life, teaches me to be an independent person and be helpful with each other. Those characteristics prepare me to become a better member of the society.
My ideas and background
My most precious treasure in the world is my family that always supports and keeps me going despite challenges and obstacles in life. They define who I am and are my strength and inspiration. When I was a child, my family lived in a poor countryside where most people would work on the rice fields or have a low paying job. My life was hopeless, because even if I became a good student, my family would not have enough money to further my education in the city where everything seemed to be out of our reach. But I was not also a good child to my parents. I spent most of my time in the internet cafe, wasting my coins on the video games or simply watching the others playing. Rather than studying hard at school, I hung out with my friends to play games or ride our bikes around the neighborhoods. It was in 2002, there was a heavy flood in my area that filled most of the rice fields. People had to move around by boats and struggled to make a living. That was when my parents decided to send me to live with a relative in the city in hope of improving my education and my future. At first, I was very excited with the news. I could get out of this rural area and going to live in a new environment with many things to explore.
