Students must complete both parts in order to earn the total number of points possible. Students will use the attached Case Vignette 1 for this assignment. This assignment is worth 100 points and 5% of the final course grade.
Part 1: Students will be required to use a genogram to create a visual representation of a client and his/her identified issues by diagraming the family over at least three generations. Students will be required to identify, examine and record any emotional and/or behavioral patterns regarding the multigenerational record. Information to be recorded and analyzed includes, but is not limited to, name, age gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, marital and/or committed relationhsip status, births, and sibling positions. Additional information which should be incorporated includes emotional difficulties, behavioral problems, religious affiliation, ethnic origins, geographic locations, occupations, socio-economic status and significant life events. You will be using the diagrams.net tool to create your genrogram. Once your genorgram is completed you will need to “export” the document as a jpeg (picture format). I have inlcuded a link for the diagram tool website as well as a video tutorial on how to use the diagram software.

Part 2: Students will use the collected information to create a brief assessment of the client/family. This assessment should a) summarize the client/family’s current situation, b) identify any concerns and/or reasons for services, and c) identify possible interventions for the client system. Assessments should be no longer than 500 words and comply with 7th edition APA writing style. This means you will need a title page and level one heading. If information from chapters 1-2 of the Roger’s text are used, you must also use in-body citations and a reference page. Students are not expected to create a full and/or clinical assessment at this point in their education. However, students should be able to draw conclusions from the genogram regarding what the major family issues are and what initial solutions might address those issues. Ex. Students are NOT qualified to provide a clicnial diagnosis of schitzoprhenia; however, they could note that a family memebrs described hearing voices and conclude that further psychological analysis was needed.
Save your brief assessment as a word document. Once you have completed and saved your brief assessment, you will need to add a blank page. This is where you will insert a copy of your diagram. You can do this by clicking on the “insert” tab at the top, choosing picture, and then browsing your computer for the completed diagram file. Once you have the diagram added, save the file again. Finally, you will submit the completed word document (with brief assessment and picture of your diagram) using this assignment link
