UH 200 Midterm Paper Rubric
This paper relates to your reading of The Autobiography of Malcolm X, which you were expected to complete independently.
The paper prompt is:
In what ways does the life of Malcolm X represent the life of a scholar? Using any of the readings that we have completed to this point in the semester as context, I want you to explain 3 ways that the story of his life is the story of a scholar. Paper Requirements
Paper must be submitted to Blackboard Learn as either a docx or a PDF. NO GOOGLE DOCS.

Times New Roman Font
12 Point Font Size
You may use the citation method of your choice (MLA, APA, Chicago Style, etc.)
For each section below, I will be grading you on the quality and the richness with which you craft your argument. You should make direct references to The Autobiography of Malcolm X, as well as any of our other readings, to provide support to your arguments.
Each section of your paper should have a transition statement at the end that leads into the next section.
Each section of your paper should have a bolded, underlined subheading title. It should look something like the following. You are free to make your subheadings different, but you MUST have subheadings.

Correct Structure of Paper (5 points)
Introduction – Sets up the paper and discusses what will be examined. Tell me, generally, within your introduction what your 3 primary arguments will be. For example, “This paper will examine the themes of x, y, and z within The Autobiography of Malcolm X…” (15 points)
First Argument – Summarize your first argument. (20 points)
Second Argument – Summarize your second argument. (20 points)
Third Argument – Summarize your third argument. (20 points)
Conclusion –Concludes the paper and states what was examined in the paper. For example, “In this paper, the themes of x, y, and z were explored and…” Discuss what you have learned in bringing all of these arguments together. What is to be gained from thinking through the text in the ways that you have shown? How do your three arguments show that Malcolm X’s life was the life of a scholar? (20 points)
