Content: 1. Students will be asked to write an essay (About 900 words) on an issue related to problems arising from China’s urban-rural divide 2. Suggested Issue (Please follow): What is the major cause of the relatively lower academic achievement of left-behind children in rural China? ? To review different kinds of explanations (relate your majors with interdisciplinary thematic knowledge and demonstrate connections among a variety of disciplines) ? Lack of education resources in rural areas ? Psychological problems led by parental deprivation ? You may examine their arguments, and then tell the readers which one is correct based on longer observation (Study the evolution of the phenomena – historical perspective). Format: 1. Margins should be one inch (2.5cm) at the top, bottom, and sides of the page. 2. Font type should be 11-point Times Roman throughout the document. 3. Double-space all body text. 4. Use one space, not two spaces, between sentences. 5. Text should be left-aligned.
