Essay required points
– First, fully identify both works of art in list form (i.e., just list as bullet points the name, date, culture of origin and location, materials, name of artist and patron (if known) for each object).
– Second, write an essay of 2 pages (500 words) in which you compare and contrast the visual and material details of both figures. What do these visual similarities and differences suggest about the broader relationship between Japanese and Chinese Buddhist art during the 6th and 7th century? 2 pages (500 words),
– Point : Did early Buddhist architecture in Korea and Japan simply copy existing Chinese buildings and design principles, or did Japanese and Korean builders contribute anything original to the design and construction of Buddhist temples in their own countries?
