Leadership & Organization Critical Reflection

The purpose of the assignment is to reflect on Leading with Integrity (Chapter 6) with an additional focus on Understanding Others (Chapter 5), applying relevant concepts to a leader of your choice.

Requirements & Format
Think of a national, historical, or local individual who you believe is an ethical leader. Discuss the skills, behaviors, attitudes, and characteristics this person exhibits that would provide reasonable support for them to be leading with integrity and demonstrate a sensitivity to multiculturalism and diversity.

The paper is short, so as with your first reflection, choose the few concepts you wish to cover in depth. Make clear ties to course material and provide adequate examples to support your claims in the body of your paper. It might be helpful to: 1) define concepts as you develop them in the body of your paper, and 2) underline the concepts you use as a guide to both you as you write as well as a guide for the reader.
To help the writing process, provide a framework for your paper with a clear and succinct introduction.

Draft Example:
In this paper, I will be discussing the leadership characteristics of Ron Finley, guerilla gardener and community leader in South Central LA. I will be focusing on how he began a local food movement through acts of moral courage and how he continues to lead with integrity though __________ and ________. I will also explore how challenging common stereotypes of his community through language and inclusion is equally central to his leadership, inspiring all of us to embrace being a garden gangsta.

Note: For this paper, do not use leaders that you have developed more everyday or personal ties to for your example – in order to maintain more objectivity (e.g. roommates, teammates, coaches, etc.). It may be a leader of an organization you’re affiliated with on or off campus, impersonal work ties, a community leader, or other public figure where you can find examples of and information about through personal experience, books, journals, local news and/or or legitimate media outlets. The leader may be a historical leader or contemporary. (It may not be Ron Finley.)
