“As we discussed in class, a person’s fate in a market based economy is driven in large part by the advantages and disadvantages that are outside their control. You may come from a rich or poor family, you may be really good at school or not so good, or really athletic or not so athletic. These are just examples – there are countless other ways in which people may be well equipped or ill equipped for success on the free market. For this week’s activity, I’d like you to reflect on the biggest advantage and the biggest disadvantage that you have for success in the free market. But don’t just list your advantages and disadvantages – say a bit about why the advantage makes it easier and the disadvantage makes it harder fro you to succeed.
