SEE attachment: The Legislative Advocacy assignment is designed to guide a student
through researching and then presenting a health issue that affects the care of
women, mothers, and infants. Once an issue is identified and discussed,
students locate a piece of current relevant legislation that has been filed at
the state MARYLAND or the Federal level. Students will then describe the
impact of this problem or issue on women, mothers, and infants in the
identified community. To conclude, the student will offer a detailed suggestion
or recommendation for improvement to the identified situation
A paper MUST will be submitted, double-spaced, using APA 7th ed.
format. The paper will have a title page and a Reference page, using APA 7th ed
format.

I. Research and present within
the introduction a health issue that affects the care of women, mothers, and
infants. Cite and reference at least 3 relevant resources, including
population-level data from one of the sources above here, and at least one
peer-reviewed research article (describes a study) that is set
in the United States, and published in 2016 or later. (1/2 to 1 page)
II. Locate a piece of relevant legislation that is filed at the
State or Federal level. You should be a resident of the named State if that is
your legislation choice. Provide name and contact information for the correct
representative (State or Federal, House or Senate), and summarize the
legislation in terms that a patient might understand. (1/2 to 1 page)
III. Describe the impact of this issue on the community, using your
references to support your position (The USA as a whole or a single state) (1-2
pages)
IV. Discuss a change in policy or an improvement in the issue that
the legislation will produce for the community, with needed detail. (1 page)
V. Summarize the main points of the paper in a concluding
paragraph. (1/2 page)
