The presentation must contain the following;
1. brief biography of the composer (include photos of composer, home or city, manuscripts etc)
2. relationship with other composers (social life of the composer)
3. composer’s famous works (other than the research project)
4. background information about the work (you need to focus on one work in particular)
5. style, genre, force(instruments used), public, society etc…
6. significance, influence, contribution of the work
7. You may include an excerpt of a performance (include the performer/group). Your portion of the video presentation must be minimum 8 min. DO NOT INCLUDE THE LENGTH OF THE PERFORMANCE EXCERPT. For instance, if you are presenting on Beethoven 9th, the performance video itself is more than an hour. We don’t need the whole performance on your presentation. You may have your device handy while you present and may feature 20-30 sec. Of the most well known section ODE TO JOY. Be creative!
8. citation is very important.
You need to include all references because you can’t present without doing research on the topic. (Chicago manual style preferred). You can turn in the reference in word form along with the video.
Please go to the HCC library online.. click on databases and go to “Oxford Music Online.” You must have a
reference from the “Oxford Music Online.”( if it is not relevant, you can cite peer-viewed articles on-line.)
9. Upload to YouTube as “unlisted” and share the link.
