Public Administration

Using cases we have reviewed in class as models (see the Marchella Pierce as examples), students may draft an original case detailing the unfolding of a public administration crisis. In their cases, students are expected to thoroughly integrate analytical frameworks presented in lecture, course materials (supplementary readings and cases) and independent research. Emphasis should be on content covered in Modules 1-6.
In addition to the case itself, students should include an addendum describing learning objectives of the case, as well as questions to guide teaching/training and discussion.
Cases on practices drawn from outside the United States or from international organizations are permitted.
Formatting, Due Date, Submission
Papers should be in MS-Word format (not pdf), no longer than twelve typed, double-spaced pages, Times New Roman (12 point font) not including appendices or bibliography. Papers that do not conform to these formatting requirements will receive grade deductions. Midterms should be submitted through Canvas by 11:59PM on Friday, April 1, 2022. Late submissions will not be accepted except under extraordinary circumstances.
Grades will be based on quality of writing and how effectively students integrate lecture (analytical frameworks), course materials (supplementary readings and cases) and independent research. A grading rubric will be posted on Canvas. Note: although some cases we have read do not include citations, all cases submitted for this assignment should be properly cited and include a bibliography/works cited section. Either MLA or APA citation are acceptable, as long as your citation format is consistent.
Private sector cases will not be accepted.
