1.
Personal reflective journal based on
the COUNSELING
To start the journal you may want to
consider your interest towards psychology and
counseling.
In each journal entry you will need
to reflect on your thoughts, your reactions and your feelings. These may relate

appeals to you the most and why you feel more attuned to the modality of
counseling.
You can reflect on the topic or the content of
the tutorials e.g. what did i find interesting and why? Do I feel
comfortable with the skills development exercises? What makes me
comfortable/uncomfortable. You could also consider how you managed any
challenges and how your attitude to learning or practice has changed.
To conclude your journal you may wish to consider
how your reflection on the theories and skills development will inform
your future learning and practice.
When writing the journal use the
past tense when thinking about your experience, what happened and how you felt
(e.g. ‘I thought’ or ‘I felt’). However, when referring to specific theories or
models it would be better to report these more objectively, in the present
tense (e.g. Roger (2015) argues that core conditions…).
