Develop a more precise and complex thesis as you start drafting. Choose one or two elements to fully analyze instead of several different concepts. One strong point is that we get Charlie’s developing idea of who his father is in the story. Use this great point to focus on your paper. Analyze how the tone, irony, and characterization change over time in what Charlie thinks/says/does — as well as what he does not think/say/do. In the end, we know what Charlie thinks about his dad, even though he doesn’t really explain it. Why is that?
