In a paragraph of no more than six sentences, write a summary of Gloria Anzaldua’s “How to Tame a Wild Tongue.” Write your summary in your own words. Your first sentence should be a focus sentence that makes a claim about the reading that shows the perspective you have taken on the essay. Select only the main details from the essay that supports or proves your focus sentence. Express these in your own words. Do not include examples or details from the essay in your paragraph. Do not quote lines or sentences in your summary. Remember just the main ideas to support your focus sentence.
You must use the correct heading and present your as a college student. Double space your paragraph and follow all the suggestions for formatting it. You can find these formatting instructions in your course syllabus (you have a hard copy and there is an electronic copy in Blackboard). There is also a sample for formatting your paragraph in the folder called Handouts in “Course Materials.”
