In “The Wild Beast,” Peter Maass states that American interest in the atrocities committed in Bosnia
subsided after awhile. Despite this initial interest, our government did nothing to prevent the
atrocities from continuing. Do we, as a country, have a responsibility to intervene when these types
of atrocities are being committed against ethnic and religious groups in other parts of the world? Why
or why not?
