Instructions:
At the time of a disaster, certain groups may be more vulnerable than others and therefore have unique needs in coping with stress. These groups may include, for example, children, elderly people, people with disabilities, and people who do not have the financial or material resources to escape or recover. Your task in this activity is to work as a team to identify two of these groups that you believe need special care in dealing with stress. Your team’s research should identify:
Their unique stress reactions
Key parties that can help with recovery
Resources that should be made available to them in dealing with stress.
Write a summary of no more than 300 words outlining the team’s choices, their unique needs in terms of coping with stress, and the resources that are available to help them. Keep in mind that you should think broadly about the situation and context surrounding these individuals, and also broadly about interventions that either directly or indirectly have a positive impact on stress reduction.
