Write a 5-page research paper based on scientific literature using a minimum of 7 articles, with at least 4-5 primary literature and 2-3 review papers. This combination will give you a deeper understanding of your topic. Five of your papers must be from 2012 to present.
Your research paper will have in-text citations as well as a bibliography at the end. The summary will not need references. Other stylistic differences will be discussed during the class discussions of the articles as well as in directions that will be posted on Canvas.
Font: 12 pt., New Times Roman or Arial, double spaced.
Format references: in a professional and consistent way.
In the bibliography, if fewer than 20 authors – list them ALL. If 20 or more authors, list the first 10, then … and the last author.
References are single spaced within the reference, double spaced between references.
Use APA format for bibliography
Format in-text citations use numeric in-text citation.
Example: 1st in-text citation noted as (1), 2nd in-text citation noted as (2), etc. If at the end of a sentence, the period goes after the (parenthesis).
Submit the research paper and summary through Canvas and Turnitin (class # 33133693, enrollment key: letsdothis!) by noon on your due date. Late submissions lose 5% per day it is late. This is to be an original piece of work. You are by no means allowed to recycle a paper you wrote for another class or in labs where you might be working. If you do, this will count as a zero.
The papers you will write are a review of the literature – a synthesis of what is known, or being investigated, about a topic. It is not a regurgitation of the information presented in the articles, but rather an opportunity for you to read many articles, integrate the information and create your own review of current findings in your chosen area of research. It is the synthesis of information and ideas throughout your paper that distinguishes an ‘A’ paper from a ‘B’ or ‘C’ paper. The text of your paper must be properly referenced. At the end, instead of repeating your paper, please deliver your own analysis, interpretation and insight regarding the topic. If you need help, please see me with enough advance notice that you will be able to incorporate the ideas and suggestions discussed.
VIII. Moving Forward Toward a Kinder, Gentler Philosophy of Success: reflections on the past and the future (4%): this will be an opportunity for you to reflect on your college experience and how you want to move forward in life.
