A. Memo – Using proper memo format, respond to the topic below. You may add any logical details required to complete your response.
You wish to attend a conference in Vancouver next month. You would like your company to cover the airfare to Vancouver, the conference registration fees of $500, and the hotel costs for five nights. You feel that attending the seminars and presentations at this conference can be a benefit for the company. Write an appropriate memo to your supervisor requesting that the company cover the conference expenses. Be sure you consider reader benefits. Also, anticipate any objections or concerns your supervisor may have.
B. Letter – Write a persuasive letter about the topic below using proper business letter format. It is not necessary to create letterhead but be sure to include an address and phone number for responses (should be fictitious).
You are on the fundraising committee for an Edmonton charity. Write to a local radio or television host, newscaster, journalist, or another well-known Edmonton personality requesting that he or she assist with the event you are planning. Be specific about what type of assistance you are seeking and give sufficient details about what the event involves, including how money will be generated.
