theorist and the concepts of his/her theory. Choose a theory studied
in this course or one that is applied in social work, that fits your
theoretical perspective as a social worker. Demonstrate how you would
apply this theory to explain a psychosocial issue. Use the following outline to organize paper.
I.
Introduce the Theory and the Theorist.
What are their credentials? Social worker, Psychologist, Psychiatrist?
When did they develop their theory?
What was the research conducted to develop this study?
II.
Present the basic concepts of the theory.
What is the theoretical framework?
Briefly explain (one sentence) the definition of the concepts.
III.
Present a psychosocial issue for which this theory would be appropriate in the assessment and treatment process.
What behavior/symptom would this theory explain or target?
Focus on explaining the issue, not how the theory is applied.
IV.
Apply the theory to the psychosocial issue presented in Slide 3.
How would the concept(s) explain this issue?
How would this theoretical framework be applied as an intervention?
V.
What are the strengths of the theory?
What are the weaknesses of this theory?
