Group Work
Research programs in your community that target at risk offenders after release from incarceration. These may be government funded programs, community non-profits, or even faith based organizations that provide services and assistance for newly released offenders to bridge the gap between incarceration and independent living. Work together with your group members to share what you believe to be the strongest aspects of the programs in your community. Together you should draft a plan for an organization that combines all of the aspects you believe should be included to help reduce recidivism and provide services to this population. Submit a two to three page paper that outlines your proposed organization. Use the following factors as a guide to include in your proposal (these are not exclusive factors and you may include others that are not listed here):
What is the target population?
What services are provided?
How long an offender can receive services?
Will services be provided through the organization or through independent providers?
