Write a brief essay about some aspect of utilitarianism. You will need to 1) describe what utilitarianism is and how it works and 2) craft a valid argument concerning utilitarianism. I want you to explicitly set out your argument. This could be going as far as just stating the two premises and the conclusion as three bullit points at the start of the essay. Finally, 3) briefly explain why your two premises are true or ought to be believed. DO NOT use your argument to explain how utilitarianism works (for example: If you do the greatest good, then you are a utilitarian. You do the greatest good. Therefore you are a utilitarian). You should be arguing what YOU think about the theory- is it good, bad, false, flawed- whatever. This paper should be 2-3 pages long, but doing it well is more important than hitting a particular length.
