Write a paper on for a Qualitative Research class. My topic is “How can civilian media be utilized to influence an armed conflict”.
There are multiple sections of this paper, but I would like for you to help with the research theory and method portions of the paper.
Attached are the instructions from the professor.
I would like for you to include examples from current practices/instances of civilian media operating on the battlefield in Ukraine.
Also attached is my rough draft of a method paper, to give you an idea of what I’m talking about.
But essentially, i need you to identify research theories. Here are the instructions: 2 pages
“Define and explain the theory or theories that will guide your research. Start by broadly introducing the theory/theories. Then explain how the theory/theories specifically apply to your research topic. You should include an assessment of previous studies that have used the same theory or theories and how they relate to your study. You may be able to revise/condense the theory section of a previous paper.”
And I need you to create the “method” section of this paper, describing the methods used. This will be 6 pages.

“This section is where you identify the specific method you will use to conduct your research. Detail is important in this section. Your method section should:
Explain why a qualitative approach is appropriate for the proposed study Following that, identify the specific qualitative method you propose and justify its appropriateness. Draw on our reading and other scholarly sources to support the justification. Cite sources for support.
Outline the source of data and selection process for the study. Who or what will be the subjects of the study? Why are these the appropriate subjects? How do the subjects relate to answering your research questions? If you’re using human subjects, how will you identify and recruit subjects? How many subjects will be needed? What are their characteristics? If you’re looking at textual data, what kinds of texts? What do you expect to learn from these texts? Be specific. Rather than a general statement of looking at newspapers, identify the newspapers. Rather than saying news stories, identify where they might appear or what the topic might be. Explain why these sources are appropriate.
Describe specifically how you will go about gathering the data. How many interviews will be necessary? What type of interviews (structured, semi-structured, etc.) will you conduct? Will interviews be recorded? How long would you expect to observe subjects in an ethnographic study?
What coding procedures will you use? How will the data be analyzed? If possible and appropriate, operationalize your variables, meaning how will you define and measure specific things you’re looking for in the study. For instance, what determines body type or a dominant female role?
With research involving human subjects, are there any ethical concerns regarding risk to yourself or the subjects? How will risk be minimized? How will participant confidentiality be maintained?
How will you monitor your work to maintain credibility? What steps will you incorporate to keep the data and interpretations connected to the reality from which they come? How will the research reflect the context it represents?”
Finally, a discussion (2 pages) using the same method regarding studies done on media operations on a battlefield.
A discussion of four to five studies using the same method and a discussion of how these studies will help with your research: 2 pages
This section differs somewhat from the literature review section. The literature review focuses on the topic and theory in previous research. In this section you’re exploring how other scholars have implemented the method you’re proposing, regardless of whether the topic is the same. This exploration can help you identify characteristics you want to incorporate in your study as well as problems you want to avoid. Again, it is acceptable to be critical of other research in this section. You might identify a study that used the same method but overlooked something that ended up limiting the study. You can explain how you will avoid the same problem.
