Write a persuasive essay with a goal of convincing your reader of the validity of your thesis – that is, you will marshal evidence and details from Urrea’s book and any of the poems to show as thoroughly as possible through effective prose and organization (and other writing techniques) the soundness of your argument.

In this essay, your central focus of analysis will be Luis Alberto Urrea’s The Devil’s Highway: A True Story; however, you will also use material from Gloria Anzaldua’s poems and/or Jimmy Santiago Baca’s poems and/or Martin Espada’s poems to enhance your argument.
